For more than a century, along the road leading up to Cortina d’Ampezzo, the great ski jump of Zuel has welcomed visitors as a powerful symbol of the valley. Originally built in 1923 in larch wood as the Franchetti ski jump, later rebuilt in reinforced concrete in 1956 based on a design by Piero Pozzati (structurally tested by Pier Luigi Nervi) and renamed Trampolino Italia, it became an icon of Italian sports architecture.
After years of neglect, the structure is now undergoing a faithful restoration aimed at preserving its historic identity and restoring its role as a landmark within the alpine landscape.
Within this context, SIDEis delivered a dedicated lighting project to enhance the architectural profile of the ski jump. A total of 40 luminaires were installed along the launch ramp and main structure, designed to highlight its distinctive geometry while ensuring uniform light distribution and seamless visual integration.
The result is a powerful yet refined night-time presence, restoring the ski jump as one of the first and most striking landmarks encountered on the way to Cortina.
